Bursaries available to study law

At present the following Guernsey law firms and legal institutions offer bursary schemes for students wishing to study law:

Babbé

A bursary scheme is offered for those undertaking a law degree, LPC or BPTC. Paid work experience is offered as part of the scheme. The bursary award is paid in termly allowances and covers a three year law degree and renewable for the completion of the LPC or BPTC.

Carey Olsen

We offer students support and guidance from legal and HR professionals along with a package worth over £4,500 per year of study. This bursary is awarded to local students studying a course leading to a Law qualification. Between six and eight weeks of paid work experience per academic year can be organised between the student and Carey Olsen. Exceptional personal and academic qualifications, enthusiasm and dedication to work. Bursary is only open to locally qualified students. Applications open in November for a June intake the following year.

Collas Crill

A bursary scheme is offered for those undertaking a law degree, GDL, LL.M, LPC or BPTC. As well as financial support, vacation work is guaranteed and students are offered a mentor.

A bursary is offered. In 2011 the award was £2,000.

MourantOzannes

A bursary scheme is offered for law students and graduates. In addition to receiving a lump sum bursary payment, students undertake a minimum of 8 weeks' paid work experience.

Ogier

A bursary scheme is offered for those undertaking an LLB law degree, GDL, LPC and BPTC. Paid work experience is offered as part of the scheme. The bursary award is for the duration of an individual's legal studies, and consists of direct financial support, preferential consideration for work placements, social events, study area and firm library, careers advice and book vouchers worth £200.

Trinity Chambers

A bursary is offered to students with local status. Two weeks paid work experience is offered as part of the scheme. The bursary award for 2010-2011 was £2,300. The scheme is available to students studying towards a law degree, GDL, BPTC or LPC.
