The Guernsey Bar is committed to respecting equality, diversity and inclusion for the benefit of its members and the public. We seek to recognise and value difference in those we engage with and represent. We strive to create a culture of inclusion, mutual respect and equal opportunities within the legal profession in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

The Guernsey Bar welcomes and promotes diversity within the legal profession and encourages members of the Guernsey Bar to embrace the values of diversity, inclusion and equality.

We promote equality, diversity and inclusion by:

• Encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion within the legal profession in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

• Treating people fairly.

• Recognising the individual needs of those we represent and engage with.

• Carrying out our functions without bias, in a respectful and non-discriminatory manner.

• Making reasonable adjustments to our rules, policies and procedures to ensure that no person is put at a disadvantage.

• Aiming to ensure that the Guernsey Bar Council is broadly representative of the membership of the Guernsey Bar such that a diverse range of views are represented.

 

The equality, diversity and inclusion policy is fully supported by the Guernsey Bar Council.

This policy will be monitored and reviewed annually by the Guernsey Bar Council to ensure that we remain an inclusive profession that values equality, diversity and inclusion.
